Lots of great photo’s of both races – thanks as always to Brian Smith

Many thanks to all from the tiny tots, fun runners as well as main 10k participants who once again created a day to remember at The Lilleshall Monumental 2017 event.

Thanks to N&DRC for your support and Stuweb, race timings have never been better!

Photos of the event can be found at Brian Smiths Flickr account  He’s certainly been busy (many thanks Brian), with more photos promised, keep an eye out!

Thanks again to all our supporters on the day, The Nuffield, Arla, Aston Tap House, Sunshine Gym and of course Wyevale with their lovely plants! Thanks to Salop medical services, who supported the day along with local Police. Great to have Kathy Ling as our wonderful race adjudicator once again.

Thanks to Dawley Scouts for doing a tremendous job by providing marquees and a super BBQ. Thanks to Lilleshall Pre-school, Youth Centre and the Cricket Club for the use of their buildings. Thanks for the donations of yummy cakes and face painting put on by Pre-school – appreciated by all. Thanks to Stafford Physios for the great post race work they performed. Thanks to local farmers for allowing us access to the private land which provided the beautiful course. Thanks as always to the cricket club and school for great working together and demonstrating how with a common sense of purpose community life really does exist! Thank you to all the residents of the village for being so involved and embracing the day. Marshals as always, (78 in total!), the day is only a vision – without you to encourage and support our runners the event wouldn’t be what it is.

We thank local schools who’ve worked alongside us encouraging children to attend the day and other local sporting groups including Nova Raiders who cycled out to join in the post race cake fest! Lovely to have Gnosall ladies also attending who would love to see some of you at their carnival 10k event on 17th June.

Accounts to be sorted, but just so you know, this year, monies raised are being donated to create an outdoor trim trail for the Primary school and complete the nets at the Cricket club.
Thanks to you as runners for taking part. We had a few charities in attendance on the day who were overwhelmed with the support you gave them.

We are always looking at ways of improving and we welcome any constructive comments you may have. You can drop us a line at lilleshallmonumental@gmail.co.uk. Meanwhile, if you enjoyed the day, don’t forget, you can have your say on ‘runners world’. We’ve yet to decide next years date, will keep you posted. We like to think it’s a pretty good 10k, hope you agree!

Many thanks to everyone who entered or helped out at the 2107 Monumental races. The 10K attracted over 300 runners, again up on last year. 2016 results.

The fun run also increased numbers with 200 taking part, fun results 2016

And well done to all those taking part in our first ever tots and toddlers race – no cow this year but watch this space….

We’ll let yu know soon how much we have raise with your wonderful help and support.

Last year we raised £2,750 donating to Lilleshall Pre-School and other local good causes.

Once again, thanks you all for helping or taking part and we look forward to welcoming you once again at the Lilleshall Monumental 2018!!

Arguably Shropshire’s most scenic multi-terrain 10K, this chip timed  race which is set in a rural village just outside Newport  is now in its 8th year.   The course is mainly off road, and with the  kind permission of private landowners, it  takes in woodland  and tracks, passing historic limekilns where there is still  evidence of the former canal that once served the village.  Mixed scenery includes bridges across ponds enjoying views of nesting birdlife, along with one or two  playful hills including the iconic Lilleshall Hill  itself (132m), which  on a clear day boasts  panoramic views of the Welsh mountains and closer to home, the marvellous ruins of Lilleshall Abbey.   Part of the run meanders through the pretty village of Lilleshall, literally passing the door of the beautiful eleventh century church keeping you to time with its  chiming bells.

The course is well marshalled and sells itself as extremely friendly with a village fete atmosphere.  There is something for all family members who fancy giving running a go with the very popular fun run for all ages  starting at 10.15.  The cricket clubhouse has a bar available and in the school field there is a BBQ, teas and coffees, and  cake stall as well as other attractions.

All 10k participants will receive a memento with specific  prizes  awarded to the first three men and women and age category prizes to  also  include first under aged 20, male and female.   A goody bag is available to all fun run participants with specific awards being given to the first child back for  year groups 1-10.

The race has raised almost £12,000 .00 for local causes in Lilleshall and this year we will be supporting a variety ongoing sporting projects for young people in the village.  Last year our first  ‘tots and toddler race'(pre-school children) was a great success and will feature again in the 2017 event.
