The trio of John Taylor, Noel Hogan and Sandy Mackenzie were out a couple of weeks later in the Lake District for a 37 mile race from Langdale which took competitors over the summits of Helvellyn, Scafell Pike and Coniston Old Man, a total of 10000 feet of climbing.
Competitors ran in pairs for safety and John Taylor ran with a club friend, Darren Graham, from Todmorden Harriers. They ran strongly, even through the snow on Helvellyn, finally completing the event in 46th in 9hrs 42min.
Noel Hogan and Sandy Mackenzie also had a good run to be 56th in 10hrs 15min. A good result from the 84 teams that finished and 19 that retired.
